The Cape Town City Ballet presents Dance International, a triple bill by three choreographers.
Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Solitaire, first seen in 1956, is ‘a kind of game for one” in which a girl tries repeatedly to join in the activities of her friends, but always finds herself alone; Adele Blank’s contemporary piece, Mad Dogs, uses an eclectic range of music in a string of vignettes, reflecting real-life situations; Russian choreographer David Lichine’s Graduation Ball, created in 1940 for the Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo, is set in a Viennese boarding school, where the young girls put on a ball with the cadets of the city’s military academy.
