Critical Thinking Forum on the Effects of Recycling

Is recycling a game-changer for the climate and economy?

The Mail & Guardian and Coca-Cola invite you to our next Critical Thinking Forum on the effects of recycling for the climate and economy.

While government departments and agencies have the responsibility of setting policy and specific targets for waste reduction and recycling, municipalities are responsible for general waste management planning and the development of bylaws that include economic incentives to support waste minimisation and recycling in their areas.

At the moment there is no legislation in place to make this a legal requirement and recycling is entirely voluntary with no incentives or rewards from government.

Join us at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange Auditorium on Tuesday November 22 2011 for this debate, moderated by Simon Gear.
