? There’s nothing like a good laugh to take people’s minds off the drudgery of everyday life.
Luckily South Africa is in no short supply of comedy performers, ranging from the obscure to the obscene. Deep Fried Man’s solo show, Deeply Fried, starts on November 22 and runs until December. The musical comedy won the Standard Bank Ovation Award when it was performed at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown earlier this year.
Satire and parody are what the show is all about, and the comedian combines an array of offbeat elements, including those from his Jewish background and the stuff that makes up everyday life in contemporary South Africa — all accompanied by his guitar.
