Ride high at Hyde Park fair

The second FoodWineDesign Fair will take place in Johannesburg, in the rooftop parking area of Hyde Park Corner from November 25 to 27.

This year’s event includes the addition of the “Come with your bike” campaign that will give visitors arriving at Hyde Park by bicycle a 50% reduction on their entry fee. Bicycle parking facilities will be made available on the rooftop and will be secure. The event is partnering with the Johannesburg leg of the global Critical Mass movement, in which cyclists unite on the last Friday of every month to do a mass night ride through the city streets.

Visitors who join Critical Mass on November 25 will be rewarded with free entry to FoodWineDesign.

Visit the Critical Mass Facebook page for details of the route and the meeting point for that night.

The preview information for the event notes that this year there will be increased participation by food and wine producers, as well as “a more carefully curated approach to the design section”.

Previous exhibitors such as Missibaba, Goet and the Shaw Sisters will return with new ranges.

Other participants will include Durban-based furniture designer Richard Stretton of Koop, as well as an exclusive collaboration between furniture-design brand Maker and Lindie Ferreira, the originator of Marion and Lindie.

Wine will be available for sample and sale by Graham Beck, Meerlust, Tokara, Ashbourne, Vrede en Lust and 20 others.

Ticket entry is R80 for adults and is free to children under the age of 12. There are specials for pre-event bookings online.

On November 25 the event will run from 1pm to 10pm, on November 26 it will run from 10am to 10pm and on November 27 it will run from 10am to 5pm.
