Reserve Bank gets a new deputy governor

Francois Groepe has been appointed deputy governor of the South African Reserve Bank, the presidency said on Monday.

His appointment by President Jacob Zuma would be effective for five years and start on January 1 2012.

Groepe had served Media24 as newspaper division CEO and financial director. He holds BCom (Hons), MBA and LLB degrees, as well as a postgraduate diploma in tax law.

Groepe would join governor Gill Marcus and deputy governors Daniel Mminele and Lesetja Kganyago. — Sapa
