Terence Goodlace has been appointed chief executive and executive director of Impala Platinum Holdings Limited (Implats), the platinum producer said on Tuesday.
“Terence brings with him extensive mining experience, having worked in the mining industry since the late 1970s when he started his working career as a learner miner,” Implats said in a statement.
Goodlace was currently the CEO of Metorex Limited, a JSE company which was delisted on January 16 following the successful takeover by the Jinchuan Group Limited.
He has held senior positions at Gold Fields Limited including membership of their executive committee and head of international and South African operations.
Goodlace holds a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of South Africa and a masters degree in business administration from the University of Wales.
Chairperson of the board Khotso Mokhele said: “Terence, who has served on the board since August 2010, brings a wealth of mining knowledge to the company and will be a great asset to the Implats team.”
Goodlace takes over from David Brown who will step down as CEO with effect from June 30 2012 to pursue his own interests. — Sapa
