Krejcir and co to apply for bail on Thursday

Czech fugitve Radovan Krejcir — arrested on Sunday in connection with an armed robbery — will apply for bail on Thursday.

Krejcir appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, along with Jason Dominguez and Veselin Langanin.

He was arrested at his home in Bedfordview, east of Johannesburg, on Sunday afternoon, Hawks spokesperson McIntosh Polela said.

Langanin and Dominguez were arrested in Bryanston and at a restaurant in Sandton.

The three were being held for their alleged involvement in an armed robbery in Pretoria in October last year when they allegedly entered a Pretoria West shop and held the owner at gunpoint before making off with R200 000.

There was a subsequent shoot-out in which Dominguez was reportedly injured.

State prosecutor Casper Kruger sought a two-day postponement to allow police time to verify various details of the three accused, including whether they were wanted by Interpol.

However, advocate Mike Hellens argued the defence had been prepared to provide all information since October 26 last year and that the state’s attempt to seek an additional two day postponement was “an exercise of police power for power’s sake”.

He said Krejcir was known to police and there was nothing further that needed to be verified.

Magistrate Maryke De Larey said police should verify all details they needed to by the time of the formal bail application, which was set down for 2pm on Thursday afternoon. — Sapa
