On March 2 2012 the Mail & Guardian reported on the controversy surrounding the appointment to posts in the Government Communication and Information System of three people who had previously worked with its chief executive, Jimmy Manyi.
Although we stand by the story, its headline, “Jimmy Manyi in jobs-for-pals scandal”, did not accurately represent the content of the article, which described a more nuanced debate around the hiring of the officials in question and recorded Manyi’s explanation that the processes involved were above board. We regret the error and have changed the headline on our website.
