Keep it together, Zuma warns ANC

Keep It Together

ANC members are duty bound not to do anything that will divide the party, President Jacob Zuma said on Monday.

“If you do that, you will be exposed. The ANC commands a lot of respect from all South Africans. If you insult people you chase away people from the ANC,” the party’s KwaZulu-Natal secretary Sihle Zikalala quoted Zuma telling an ANC centenary rally in Esikhawini.

Earlier on Monday he unveiled a memorial acre in the township.

‘Honour the fallen heroes’
“The memorial acre will show people where the ANC comes from and … honour the fallen ANC heroes,” Zuma said during the unveiling, according to Zikalala.

The unveiling was part of the ANC centenary activities in the province.

Zuma said the anti-apartheid struggle had many complicated issues which needed to be recorded and made public.

“One of the reasons why the issues were never recorded was because of the fact that ANC members were encourage not to record sensitive material, to avoid being arrested.”

Zikalala said the centenary celebrations in KwaZulu-Natal would continue until the end of the month. — Sapa
