INVITATION FOR PREQUALIFICATION – KOMA-KOMA BRIDGE (SENQU RIVER)

The Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho intends to upgrade the Koma-Koma low water bridge to an all weather high level bridge over the Senqu River. Notice is hereby given to all interested and suitably qualified Civil Engineering Construction Companies of the intention of the Government of Lesotho to pre-qualify for construction of a new 150 m long bridge over the Senqu River near Koma-Koma and approach roads, between Thaba-Tseka and Mokhotlong Districts, Lesotho.

The scope of the Work comprising the Construction and Surfacing of this road is as follows:-

  • A 5-span bridge with main spans of 37,5 m and 18m above river bed level
  • Cell structure 3/3,3 m wide x 2,7 m high, 13 m long
  • An underpass in the bridge approach road consisting of two reinforced concrete walls with a corrugated arch on top with span of 8 m
  • 1,2 km surfaced (Cape Seal) approach roads
  • Retaining walls

The Employer proposes to award the Contract in September 2012 and the Time of Completion of the project is set at 20 months.

Prequalification Documents in English will be available from Tuesday 24 April 2012 for a non-refundable deposit of LSL 500.00/500.00 ZAR per set from the offices of the Director General, Roads Directorate, Corner Moshoeshoe and Senate Roads, Industrial Area, Maseru . The method of payment will be cash. Prequalification will be conducted through World Bank based procedures.

The deadline for submissions of the Pre-qualification Documents will be at 12:00 Lesotho Time on Wednesday 23 May 2012, and must be delivered by or before the closing time at 12:00 on Wednesday 23 May 2012 at the address indicated in the pre-qualification data sheet.

Late pre-qualification documents or evidence of mailing of pre-qualification telefaxed or emailed pre-qualification documents will not acceptable. The Employer is not bound to pre-qualify all or any of the applicants.

The currency applicable for the contracts shall be Lesotho Loti.
