Expect nothing new from Midrand

First, the president is pro-capitalism because his family, in its accumulation drives, is like any greedy capitalist. Second, the ANC is not a communist party and the South African Communist Party is so weak that even the bourgeoisie is no longer concerned about the ANC-SACP relationship. Blade Nzimande’s rhetoric is not taken seriously by business.

Third, Jacob Zuma is close to the Black Management Forum, through government spokesperson and forum president Jimmy Manyi and businesspeople such as Don Mkhwanazi, Thembakazi Mnyaka, Robert Gumede, Shauwn Mpisane and the Guptas. Fourth, Zuma is so keen to be recognised as an ally by the West that he signed the United Nations resolution that allowed Nato to bomb Libya. Only Thabo Mbeki and Kgalema Motlanthe spoke out about the recolonisation of Libya.

Fifth, socialism cannot be implemented in a corrupt state. In the Cabinet and the ANC national executive committee, 72% of members are involved in business. If the ANC was pro-left, it would not have loaned the International Monetary Fund $2-billion. Lastly, a polygamist cannot support an egalitarian society that will liberate women. – Phindile Bungu, Ficksburg
