Amid the usual calls for BEE to be scrapped, government last year issued revised BEE codes meant to plug some of the gaps in the existing legislation. But many companies raised concerns that they may be prejudiced by the changes.
So what is the score – do we need stricter controls to ensure that BEE has the trickle-down effect it was intended to have or fewer controls to allow businesses to expand without the need to jump through too many hoops?
