Viewers have been watching recordings of the show
The interprovincial talent competition has featured choirs assembled by recording artists such as Judith Sephuma (Limpopo), Khaya Mthethwa (KwaZulu-Natal), Zakes Bantwini (Gauteng), Thembi Seethe (Free State), Zwai Bala (Mpumalanga), Sipho "Hotstix" Mabuse (North West) and Winnie Khumalo (Western Cape).
Bala, Mthethwa and Bantwini, as chosen by the judges, will be competing for the prize money of R750 000, of which R500 000 will go to the choir and R250 000 will to the choir's chosen charity. The prize money is sponsored by Metropolitan.
Fortunately, this time around, the winner won't be chosen by Rebecca Malope, Lindelani Mkhize and radio personality Anele Mdoda. Fans of the show have been given the chance to vote. You missed that? Sorry … voting lines closed on Thursday.
Viewers have been watching recordings of the show, filmed at the Soweto Theatre, but this week it will be broadcast live on Mzansi Magic.
"It's now or never," says M-Net's head of communications, Lani Lombard. "Clash of the Choirs South Africa has been a firm favourite on Mzansi Magic's line-up and the competition has been tough – not only among the choirs, but also among the different provinces. Congratulations to Zwai and his Mpumalanga choir, Khaya and KwaZulu-Natal and Zakes and the singers from Gauteng. We can't wait to see who have harmonised their way into the hearts of the voting public."
It will be interesting to see whether Mthethwa, who is still rolling on his 2012 Idols win will be able to keep his voter-winning momentum going.
The show will be aired on Mzanzi Magic (Channel 161) on Sunday at 5.30pm.
