Three Anc Members Survive Shooting In Kzn

"According to the police reports, the assailants entered into a house and opened fire [on Tuesday]," said provincial spokesperson Senzo Mkhize on Wednesday.

Two people sustained critical injuries, including the pregnant woman who lost her unborn child. The third sustained minor injuries.

The attack happened in Wembezi township's section C at around 7pm.

“The ANC is shocked by these shameful attacks. We condemn them and we urge our law enforcement agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are successfully prosecuted," Mhize said.

Last month Sibusiso Majola, the chairperson of an ANC branch in Umtshezi, was killed there.

In August last year Jimmy Lembede, a ward councillor in the municipality, was killed and his 11-year-old son was assaulted.

The ANC councillor was shot dead in Estcourt and his wife was shot and injured, KwaZulu-Natal police said at the time. – Sapa
