Jackson filmed the scene, in which he appears with Generations cast member Winnie Ntshaba-Modise, in March while he was in Johannesburg for the filming the live-action remake of the 1998 Japanese anime classic Kite.

Jackson is one of Hollywood's highest earning and top grossing stars, having starred in films such as Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained.

The star tweeted a picture of himself with the Generations cast from his Twitter account.

City Press reported that Generations publicist Nyagunda Ngwenya described Jackson's appearance as "a scoop for the show".

"He was excited to be part of the show. He knows that Generations is the biggest show and has known Mfundi for many years. He spent 45 minutes and the actors were happy to share the space with him and maybe a little bit starstruck. He is the man, the world's best paid actor."

During his stay in South Africa the actor, who is known to be a keen golfer, also found time to join the Sunshine Tour at the Johhansburg country club.

The Generations episode featuring Jackson will be screened at 8pm on SABC1.
