Edward Snowden is due to speak to the media from an airport in Russia on Friday, requesting an audience with human rights groups.
Snowden has been at the airport for about three weeks, after he fled the United States.
He has been at the transit area of the Moscow airport since the US revoked his passport after he leaked information on methods of spying on citizens and other countries.
