Hilton received the highest number of votes in this category for comedians with 25 years of experience.

The awards will take place at the Teatro at Montecasino, Johannesburg on Saturday August 24. The top talents of South African comedy will be celebrated in six categories, as voted for by their peers.

The veteran comedian will also be honoured at a special night at Parker’s Comedy Club on Tuesday August 13.  On the night, Hilton will be subjected to comedic insults, praise and downright abuse from his fellow comedians.

The Comics' Choice Awards were founded by comedian John Vlismas and Taffia Keight of Whacked Management.

"We could never put on a show of this calibre by ticket sales revenue alone," says Taffia Keight, the show’s producer.

"It simply isn't possible, as this production cost runs into the millions. We are very grateful to have the support of sponsors, as well as the support of comedians from all over South Africa who also contribute to make this incredible project work."

Five of the six categories are voted for by comedians themselves and one award (the Savanna Audience Choice Award) is voted for by the public.

This year’s audience choice nominees are Mashabela Galane, Sifiso Nene, Thapelo ‘TIPS’ Seemise and Khanyisa Bunu.
