Sa Has Failed Zim And One Of Its Own

We, in Zimbabwe, have a lot of respect for Lindiwe Zulu ("Rift between Zanu-PF and SA deepens", July 12). She has been like a breath of fresh air to a very damaged and sore nation. She is a woman of morals, principles and courage, traits that are sorely missing in world leadership today.

We have a leadership crisis in general and people of Zulu's character should be encouraged to go forward and not be battered down. But I am sure that this will only strengthen her character for she stands on the moral high ground where many do not.

It's fascinating that leaders such as Robert Mugabe have for years publicly denigrated and abused scores of individuals in the most vitriolic and hateful way – and South Africa has hardly emitted a frail squeak.

And now one of your courageous own, a South African, makes a stand and simply tells the truth – something Zimbabweans are desperate for – and she is flattened and told to keep quiet.

We are, in fact, very disappointed with the South African government's handling of this situation. Its diplomacy is sometimes very questionable.

It becomes clearer every day that the leaders are not really interested in the welfare and future of the abused, suppressed and oppressed Zimbabwean people, but only in maintaining the status quo. – N Bekker-Smith
