Former Chief Justice Ngcobo To Head Remuneration Commission

The commission was established by President Jacob Zuma to review the pay policies of the public service,  presidency spokesperson Mac Maharaj said in a statement on Monday.

"Through this commission, the state as an employer aims to ensure that government gets value for money paid on the salaries of public servants."

Zuma announced during his State of the Nation Address in February that the commission would be established to investigate the appropriateness of the remuneration and conditions of service provided by the state to all its employees, with teachers receiving priority attention, said Maharaj. – Sapa
