Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyr would like to settle a case of reckless or negligent driving against him out of court, SABC news reported on Monday.
Hofmeyr, who appeared in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate's Court in the morning, told the broadcaster he was considering three legal options to be able to settle out of court.
He was arrested in Bronkhorstspruit on the night of December 19 for speeding, and released on R500 bail. Gauteng traffic police spokesperson Busaphi Nxumalo said at the time Hofmeyr would also face a charge of exceeding the speed limit after he was caught driving at 169km/h in an 80km/h zone.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page a day after his arrest, Hofmeyr said it was "irresponsible and dangerous" to speed.
On Monday, Hofmeyr told reporters at the court he had not noticed the speed at which he was travelling. His case was postponed until January 23. – Sapa
