Applications are now open for the Future NEWS 2015 media conference in Edinburgh. The conference will expose over 100 students aged 18 to 25 to leading international media figures in areas from editorial management to news, sports and business reporting. It will give them hands-on practice in everything from video to writing and social media. The theme of this year’s conference is “the business of news”.
Successful entrants will win a fully-funded place at the conference that will be held in the Scottish Parliament building from September 4 to September 6.
The delegates will come from 20 countries with varying levels of media sophistication and editorial balance. Given the rigorous selection process, many can be expected to become the editors and opinion formers of the future in their respective countries, with an understanding of ethical standards in journalism and media production.
Future NEWS 2015 is supported by the British Council, Reuters and the Mail & Guardian.
To enter, students need to write 500 words in English on “why journalism needs me” and submit it to our competition tab on Facebook.
The competition closes on Tuesday July 28.
