  • The first-ever Craft Beer, Food and Wine Fair promises to be a not-to-be-missed family affair that will feature more than gourmet food vendors and family-friendly entertainment. The music line-up includes CrashCarBurn, Kahn, Lisa Goldin, Mobius Loop, Verb, The Sextons, Lindsay McGuire, Lady Lea and DJ Delicious.   • The Beadwork, Art and the Body: Dilo Tse Dintsi exhibition spotlights the abundance and richness of beadwork of South Africa. Some of the items on display date from the mid-20th century, and others are contemporary. This exhibition also celebrates different cultures.   • The annual Soweto Comedy Festival returns under the rubric The Funny Business of Comedy. It will “highlight how the comedy industry has contributed towards creating jobs for up-and-coming comedians and how the business of gags has transformed in the past eight years”. This year’s line-up features Mashabela Galane, Tol A$$ Mo, Thapelo Tips aka Shampoo, Chris Mapane, Jay Boogie, Mdu Ntuli and Smokey. Durban

  • International hip-hop artist Sage Francis is performing in Durban for one night only. Born Paul William, Sage is regarded as one of the most talented lyricists in hip-hop. He is also renowned for spoken word poetry and has released six studio albums. Sage will share the stage with local hip-hop acts and spoken word poets Raheem Kemet and Iain EWOK Robinson.   • In celebration of women’s month and women empowerment, Artscape Theatre is hosting the Women’s Humanity Arts Festival 2015. Focusing on “humanity”, the festival will take place in various venues in the theatre complex. Stage productions will address humanness in our society. Some of the productions include Bittersoet, an Afrikaans translation of Deon Opperman’s Sweet Sorrows; Cold Case, a tribute to anti-apartheid political activist Dulcie September, who was assassinated in 1988; and two pieces by the Unmute Dance Company, directed by Themba Mbuli.   • A new gallery is opening in Cape Town with a group exhibition titled Cape of Good Hope.It features artwork showing different aspects of the city, such as history and architecture.   • Cape Town-based five-piece symphonic indie-rock band Al Bairre will perform at the Assembly with the supporting acts Early Hours and Jackal and the Wind. Al Bairre, who are also on the Oppikoppi 2015 festival line-up, launched in 2012 and have since given us hit singles such as We Move On and Bungalow.   • The Cape Town City Ballet will perform in a dance production by Marc Goldberg titled The Vortex, which is a dance adaptation of Noel Coward’s controversial play of a similar title. The production deals with themes such as drug addiction in 1920’s high society, adultery, ageing and dysfunctional family dynamics in the characters David and Florence Lancaster’s home.
