Entertainment News: Adele guns for Flo Rida downloads record

Adele’s new single Hello has topped 450 000 downloads in its first two days on sale. The sales total for the week ending October 29 will be announced on November 2, but the strong two-day download figures suggest it could post the largest ever one-week download numbers.

The current record for one-week download sales is held by Flo Rida’s Right Around which sold which sold 636 000 copies in the week ending February 15 2009. Adele’s previous high seller was Rolling In The Deep , which shifted 353 000 units in May 2011.

Leah Remini to release a book on leaving Scientology

American actress Leah Remini has spoken out about leaving the Church of Scientology in an interview with ABC’s news magazine programme 20/20.

The former Kings of Queens star is preparing to release her memoirs titled Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, which will reveal all about her struggle to break free from the church which has a pervading influence on a number of Hollywood stars.

In the memoir, Remini will also dish the dirt on the church’s golden boy Tom Cruise. According to Ballantine Books, it will be a “moving and eye-opening account” of Remini’s 30 years within the church.

“The decision to leave is you’re giving up everything you have worked for your whole life,” she told ABC News’ Dan Harris. “I feel that people need to understand this has been my whole life and I want them to understand how it happens …,” she said.

Kelly Khumalo misses her baby father one year after his passing

On the one-year anniversary of his death, singer Kelly Khumalo took to her tumblr to express her longing for her deceased baby father, former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa. “It was a terrible thing that happened. An unimaginable tragedy. Senzo was more than just a lover to me; he was a part of me,” she writes.

“The bond we shared, its indestructability scared me. I always thought to myself, what kind of love is this that I have for this man? And you know that I have been heartbroken and disappointed before so I was no longer good at being gullible. It turned out I didn’t need to be naive to love him.”

South African Fashion Week designer supports #FeesMustFall

Models at South African Fashion Week took to the catwalk to show their support for the #FeesMustFall campaign last week by holding up placards reading #FeesMustFall, #NationalShutdown and Education Is Our Weapon. This was a day before students marched on the Union Buildings on October 23, a march that saw confrontations between students and police as President Jacob Zuma failed to address the gathered students. Designer Isabelle Lotter sent her models out with the placards as part of the showing of her 2016 autumn/ winter collection titled Sies!.

Zubz to present a 13-part hip-hop documentary series

If you’re wondering where Zubz has been, tune in tomorrow for the launch of Above the Ground, a 13 part documentary series looking at the evolution of South African hip-hop culture. The show, on eKasi+ Channel 105 on OpenView HD, will look at various aspects of hip-hop culture such as graffiti, breaking, DJing and emceeing.

Each episode will feature different artists to help viewers understand different aspects of hip-hop. Baloji Youssoupha will share his thoughts on hip-hop in other parts of the continent, while Shameema Williams of hip-hop group Godessa will share her views about the position of women in hip-hop. Siyabonga “Slikour” Metane will discuss the social impact of the genre, while Khuli Chana expands on collaborations in the genre.
