The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has condemned violent acts allegedly caused by the ANC during their campaign gatherings.

“The ANC leadership is involved in a programme to violently disrupt EFF activities because they know the EFF appeals to the people and will defeat them in the upcoming elections,” party spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said in a statement.

“We call on the ANC and its corrupt leadership to at least appreciate that political power can be handed over peacefully.”

Ndlozi said an EFF meeting at Esikhawini Shopping centre in Uthungulu region earlier on Saturday was targeted by “ANC agents” who threw stones at their members and supporters.

He also claimed that one of their members who was buried on Saturday was killed by an ANC mob during their door-to-door campaign in Ekurhuleni.

“Through all these disruptions and violence, the ANC national, provincial and regional leaders have not called for order from their members because the violence and disruptions are planned and funded from the top.”

On Tuesday, the EFF’s Senzo Thwala was shot and injured in the leg when he tried to prevent a man he described as wearing an ANC T-shirt from entering the KaMaqhekeza stadium outside Komatipoort. â€“ News 24
