Ekurhuleni Comes Alive on March 10 2017
Ekurhuleni Comes Alive on March 10 2017

The Ekurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz Evening March edition is a guitar and vocal season. Following Selaelo Selota’s night to remember, the Jazz Evening will feature two of South Africa’s top guitar and vocal maestros. Friday March 10 will see Vusi Mahlasela leading the pack supported by Oupa “Poy Poy” Makhubela to set the Jazz Evening on a guitar mode. The two Tshwane-based musicians are a rare combination on the stage. For the first time they will be sharing the stage, going toe to toe with guitar and mesmerising entertaining skills.

As part of the Human Rights celebration, Vusi Mahlasela became the artist of choice as one of those musicians who preaches justice through music. His song “When You Come Back” it is still the all-time favourite. Vusi Mahlasela is one of those musicians who performs more outside the country than in the country, so this will be one of those evenings when his fellow South Africans can join him in ringing the bells and beating drums. Oupa “Poy Poy” Makhubela will also be dishing out some of his favourite tunes for the night.

As tradition of the Ekurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz Evening, there will be a three-course meal, starting with the upcoming band The Remnants for starters, then going in to Oupa “Poy Poy” Makhubela during the main course, with things heating up with the “Voice” Vusi Mahlasela for the dessert. In between, the two comedians Tshepo Sethosa and Nyembe will lighten the Jazz Evening with their hilarious antics. Hector the Motivator is the host, and improvise as a facilitator, musician and comedian to keep the night alive. For these patrons they know there is never a dull moment at the Ekurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz Evening as there is always lots of prices to be won. The Evening is the Ekurhuleni Metro’s way of show casing what’s on the offer in the city, and is hosted by the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre, supported by SA FM, Sowetan and the Mail&Guardian.

Tickets are available at R400.00 for a full evening’s entertainment, drinks and three-course meal package. To secure your seat call 011 897 000 or go to [email protected].
