Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema said almost everyone in the ANC had been captured.

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says the organisation welcomes the removal of Blade Nzimande as Higher education minister.

Speaking at an EFF press briefing in Braamfontein‚ Malema said whilst the organisation rejects the reshuffle of the national executive it welcomes the axing of SACP boss Nzimande.

“We reject the reshuffle of the national executive because it does not include the criminal suspect Jacob Zuma. We also welcome Blade Nzimande’s removal as higher education minister. Now we will have all the necessary time to go to the ground and campaign for the removal of the Zuma family in the ANC December conference “

President Jacob Zuma reshuffled his Cabinet on Tuesday morning – the second reshuffle in 2017. The most notable move was the ousting of SACP secretary general Nzimande as minister of higher education who was replaced with former minister of home affairs Hlengiwe Mkhize with Buti Manamela as her deputy in the ministry.

Malema said their endorsement of Nzimande’s removal was due to the SACP boss’s inability to commit to communist ideals. He said Nzimande failed to live up to expectation.

“There were big expectations on his appointment as a communist into Cabinet, but like all communists, Nzimande was consistent with incompetence and compliance with bourgeois agendas.”

Nzimande’s axing is likely to worsen the divisions in the alliance. Both the SACP and the labour federation Cosatu told the M&G last month that a Cabinet reshuffle would paralyse an already divided tripartite alliance.

Other changes to the national executive include Mmamoloko Kubayi moving from the energy portfolio to communications, with David Mahlobo now the of Minister of Energy. Ayanda Dlodlo is the new Minister of Home affairs and Bongani Thomas Bongo is the Minister of State Security.

Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma who was tipped to replace Nzimande remains MP.
