This morning, EOH released a statement titled “No wrong-doing by EOH”. It describes aspects of our engagement with it since April 2017, when we published the article “The minister, the middleman, the mansion and the new corporate kid”.

This week, we amended the article to take account of information supplied by EOH after publication. Our statement on the amendments is recorded as a header note to the article.

To the extent that EOH’s statement today might surpass our statement, we cannot vouch for its accuracy.

In particular, we would like to draw attention to the distinction between EOH’s statement that “amaBhungane has subsequently confirmed that it has found no evidence of any wrongdoing on the part of EOH” and our statement that “we found no evidence that either EOH or the executive acted unlawfully” (our emphasis).
