The Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises, which is inquiring into the state capture at state utility Eskom, continues on Wednesday with Matshela Koko’s testimony.

Koko is the power utility’s head of generation who is expected to implicate former Eskom chair Zola Tsotsi in illicit payments.

Koko had been suspended from the power utility for several months, but was reinstated in December when a disciplinary inquiry cleared him of any wrongdoing.

Tuesday’s parliamentary inquiry ended in the early hours of Wednesday morning where the committee questioned former Eskom chief financial officer Anoj Singh.

Much of Singh’s testimony focused on his denial of his personal relationship with the Guptas and how the family did not receive preferential treatment when they bought Glencore’s Optimum Mine.

Singh was the first testimony of the new year after the inquiry postponed the hearings after Singh supplied his 400 page dossier the night before his was supposed to appear.
