A ferocious wildfire burning through the Los Padres National Forest continued creeping closer to the tourist town of Big Sur in California on Friday.
Sony is reportedly negotiating licensing deals with studios to distribute videos online through a long-promised service for the PlayStation 3. Citing studio executives, the Los Angeles Times newspaper reported on Monday that Sony could launch the service as early as summer.
The maker of the popular photo-editing software Photoshop on Thursday launched a basic version available for free online. San Jose, California-based Adobe Systems says it hopes to boost its name recognition among a new generation of consumers who edit, store and share photos online.

Microsoft says it will make Xbox 360 video games developed by players available for download through the console’s online service. The new service will double the size of the Xbox 360 game library, to 1 000 games within a year of its launch, scheduled for this holiday season, the company said on Wednesday.
A wind-driven wildfire destroyed at least 165 homes and other structures and scorched 304ha just south-west of Lake Tahoe in California, a spokesperson for the El Dorado county sheriff’s department said. ”This thing is raging out of control, and there’s no estimate as to when that may change,” a police spokesperson said late on Sunday.
