Remember the Triumphs of old? Well, the new ones are nothing like that. Thank goodness! For the last ten years Triumph has been building bikes as good as anything to come out of Japan, and Gavin Foster finally took the plunge and bought one.

Audi this week launched the current generation S4 in South Africa. This sporty flagship in the A4 range utilises Audi’s powerful 4.2 litre V8 engine which develops an eye watering 253kW of power at 7 000 rpm and 410 Newton metres of torque.

The reborn Triumph brand has built its reputation upon an excellent range of three-cylinder engines, and the cruiser follows the recipe, although in an all-new engine with over twice the capacity and is the first bike to break the two litre barrier.
In developing the YZF 450 quad, Yamaha did what quad nuts have been praying for — taken the motor from their race-winning four-stroke YZ dirt-bike series and put it into a four-wheeled frame that can deliver handling to suit.
Mercedes-Benz has launched an all-new new CLK Cabriolet series. The four-seater soft-top, which comes in six-cylinder CLK 320 and V8 CLK 500 versions, is longer, wider and higher than its predecessor.
