Zakhele Shongwe
Zakhele Shongwe is a PhD candidate and research assistant at Land Restitution Evaluation Study (LRES) at the University of Cape Town (UCT). He holds a master’s degree in development studies and a bachelor of social work, both from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He is a former researcher at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in a study which explored the ‘Key Drivers and Effects of Corruption in Rural Areas: A Case Study of Jozini Local Municipality’. His current doctoral research study focuses on examining the infrastructure of Race and the Afterlives of Apartheid that produced the Phoenix Massacre, a study that focuses on unpacking the structural implications of the massacre in Durban, South Africa.
