The MultiChoice Group’s active customers for all its regions, including South Africa, dropped from 17.3 million to 15.7 million over the year.

On Wednesday, MultiChoice announced that it will no longer offer ANN7 in its DStv bouquet when ANN7’s contract expires in August.

“We will not be renewing our contract with ANN7, instead we are going to be hosting a new black-owned news channel and we will be calling for proposals from interested media groups very soon,” said Multichoice CEO Calvo Mawela.

During the media briefing, MultiChoice admitted that “mistakes” were made in contractual negotiations with 24-news channel ANN7.

This is a developing story. More to follow.
