Johannesburg 

  • Jazz singer Abigail Kubeka will perform some of her classics, taking fans back in time. Kubeka, who started her music career in 1957, is one of the musicians who has helped to keep the Sophiatown jazz sound alive. Pretoria 

  • The first monthly outdoor live Park Acoustics concert of the year features BCUC, who will be headlining the show, Gazelle and InviZABLE, Sawagi from Japan and Tidal Waves. There will also be a comedy stage and Glen Bo, Lazola Gola and Kagiso KG Mokgadi will perform. Park Acoustics started in 2010 and was held in the Pretoria National Botanical Gardens, but it has grown since then. The atmosphere is casual and audiences can bring food for a picnic. Cape Town 

  • Kirstenbosch has hosted some of South Africa’s finest music acts at its Summer Sunset Concerts. The latest act is alternative pop singer and South African Music Awards nominee Jimmy Nevis. He released his debut album Subliminal in 2012 and has since worked with musicians such as Mi Casa and Kwesta. WHEN January 25. WHERE Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. TIME Gates open at 4pm. Sasolburg  

  • Acclaimed Belgian jazz musicians Dirk van der Linden and Jean van Lint will, for the first time, perform in South Africa – at the International Jazz from Europe concert. Van der Linden plays the Hammond organ and Van Lint is a singer and bass player. The two will form a quartet with saxophonist Justin Holcroft from the United Kingdom and South African jazz drummer Anthony Yoko.
