It’s all over for Free State Stars

Free State Stars’ players slumped to the turf and others shed tears openly after the goalless draw against Dynamos at Giyani Stadium on Sunday afternoon ensured their relegation from the PSL. In other matches, Bush Bucks drew 1-1 against Santos and Moroka Swallows and Tembisa Classic played to a 1-1 draw.

Spurs given food for thought

A bout of food poisoning affecting 10 of the Tottenham Hotspur squad’s players put the game against West Ham United in doubt at Upton Park on Sunday, but with West Ham involved in the FA Cup final against Liverpool on Saturday, and with rules forced down by the FA Premier League, the match went ahead at the scheduled time of 3pm.

Edwards bowls West Indies to victory

Impressive bowling from Fidel Edwards, as well as a dominant batting performance, paved the way for the West Indies to complete an 82-run win in the fourth one-day international against Zimbabwe at Bourda Oval on Sunday. Edwards snared three wickets for 42 runs from his allotment of 10 overs.

Investec launches R4-billion securitisation platforms

Specialist banker Investec will this week launch one of two funding platforms, with a combined size of R4-billion, to fund a significant portion of the growth in advances expected by Investec Private Bank. The securitisation funding platform will allow Investec to continue to offer clients superior service at competitive rates on certain banking products such as new home and car loans.
