Mali, Senegal both in quarterfinals

Mali and Senegal drew 1-1 on Monday, qualifying both teams for the quarterfinals of the African Cup of Nations. Mali, playing without standout Frederic Kanoute, took the lead in the 33rd minute when Dramane Traore headed a free kick home from 11m out while goalkeeper Tony Sylva could only watch the ball go in off the post.

Morne du Plessis resigns from Sarfu

One of the four independent directors of SA Rugby, Morne Du Plessis, resigned after a Sarfu bosberaad at the weekend. The South African Broadcasting Corporation reported on Monday that it was believed that sweeping changes were approved at the bosberaad, which will see the union taking control of all rugby matters.
