Moroka Swallows earned maximum points away from home when they beat Manning Rangers by 2-1 in a dull Castle Premiership game at Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday night. The score was 1-0 at the interval to Rangers thanks to a 12th-minute goal by Alton Meiring.

Wits University romped to an easy 3-0 win over 10-man Golden Arrows in a one sided Castle Premiership clash played at Milpark on Wednesday night. Arrows were reduced to 10 men two minutes into the second half when referee Morne Daniels sent off Lucky Sibeko for a foul on Ryan Hodgskin.

A Nigerian Islamic court will pronounce its verdict on Thursday on single mother Amina Lawal’s appeal against a sentence she be stoned to death for adultery. Meeting the UN’s goal of distributing anti-retroviral drugs to three million people living with Aids by the end of 2005 will cost more than five billion dollars, said United Nations health officials on Wednesday. That amount is more than the total spent worldwide on fighting Aids in 2003, they said.
