What “the best online crypto casino” actually means

On June 12, 2025, at a ceremony in Belgrade, the review site AskGamblers named Winz Crypto Casino its Best Casino. At the same ceremony, its Best Crypto Casino title went to a different operator. Players chose the first winner by vote. AskGamblers staff chose the second.

Both are versions of “best”, and neither tells a player much on its own. Winz has collected industry awards and shortlist places since it opened in 2020, and the team wanted to know what those titles actually measure.

This article sets out what a crypto casino has to do well to deserve the word, how a player can check each point in a few minutes, and what awards and badges do and do not prove.

Who decides what “best” means

The label usually comes from one of three places.

The first is the ranking page. Many lists of the best crypto casinos are published by affiliate sites, which earn money when a reader signs up through their links. That does not make a list wrong, but the order on the page is also a commercial decision.

The second is an awards program run by a review site. AskGamblers, which describes itself as a casino affiliate website, runs an annual awards program. Players vote for one of 10 finalists in categories such as Best Casino and Best New Casino. Since the 2025 edition, the votes of its forum members also count as a separate tier. The Best Crypto Casino, Best Partner and Best Manager titles are chosen by the AskGamblers team. The night before the ceremony, AskGamblers holds a Charity Night at which partners bid for positions on its website, with the money going to a humanitarian cause.

The third is accreditation. Casinomeister, a player forum and review site running since 1998, has kept a set of standards for its accredited casinos for most of that time. It says the casinos are vetted by its members. AskGamblers issues a Certificate of Trust against its own criteria.

None of these is regulation. Licences come from regulators, and only a regulator can fine an operator or take its licence away.

What “best” should mean for a player

Seven things decide whether a crypto casino is good to play at. Each can be checked before a first deposit.

A licence, and somewhere to complain

A licence means a regulator can, in principle, act against the operator. The footer of a casino site should name the company that runs it, the regulator and a licence number.

Check that number on the regulator’s own website rather than trusting a logo. Some licence seals are clickable and should open a validation page on the regulator’s domain. A seal that opens nothing, or opens a page on the casino’s own site, proves little. Licences differ: some regulators run a complaint process for players, others leave disputes to the operator. A licence in one country also does not mean the casino is allowed where the reader lives.

Games that can be checked

Return to player, or RTP, is the share of all stakes a game pays back over a very large number of rounds. A slot with a 96 per cent RTP keeps about 4 per cent of the money wagered on it over time. It says nothing about a single session, which can end far above or far below that figure. Britain’s Gambling Commission makes the same point: the figure is an average over a large number of plays, not what to expect each time a game is played.

Crypto casinos often add a second check, called provably fair. Before play, the game shows a scrambled version of a secret server seed. After play, the seed is revealed and the player can confirm that each result came from that seed, their own client seed and a counter. Winz’s in-house game Chick ’N Run, for example, lists a 97 per cent RTP in its official rules. It generates results with HMAC-SHA256 from those inputs and has a Verify tab for past rounds. For games that are not provably fair, look for the name of an independent testing lab in the game information or on the casino’s fairness page.

Withdrawals, and what “instant” means

Winz lists all 12 of its cryptocurrencies as instant for withdrawals and leaves the fee column blank for every method. The same page lists Mastercard and bank transfer withdrawals at one to five days.

“Instant” describes the casino’s processing. The blockchain still has to confirm the transfer, and that takes very different times: Solana’s software targets a new slot about every 400 milliseconds, while Bitcoin Cash targets one block every 10 minutes.

Verification can slow things down too. Many casinos ask for identity documents before a first large withdrawal, and a player who uploads them early avoids waiting at the moment of a win.

Limits matter as much as speed. Winz pays out at most 1 BTC per Bitcoin withdrawal, so a larger balance comes out in several transfers. Fees can also come from the network rather than the casino. Sending USDT on Tron from a wallet with no staked energy burns about 6.5 TRX, or about C$3 at October 27, 2026, prices.

Crypto handled clearly

Tether runs on several blockchains. A USDT address on Tron starts with a T and one on Ethereum with 0x, and the two networks cannot send to each other. A good cashier shows which network it expects for each coin. Payments to XRP addresses shared by many users often need a destination tag as well.

Price is the other risk. A stablecoin such as USDT or USDC is pegged to the US dollar, so a balance holds its value. Other coins do not: Solana’s price moved about 20 per cent and Dogecoin’s about 21 per cent over the 30 days to October 27, according to CoinGecko. A balance held in either can rise or fall without a single bet.

Terms a player can read

Bonus terms decide whether a bonus is worth anything. A wagering requirement says how much must be bet before bonus money can be withdrawn. For example, a C$100 bonus with a 35-times requirement means C$3,500 in bets first.

Games rarely count equally. A slot may count in full towards the requirement while a table game counts for a fraction or not at all, so the same C$3,500 can take far longer to reach.

Look for the requirement, any maximum bet while a bonus is active, which games count towards it, and when identity documents will be requested. All of it should be one click away and written in numbers, not adjectives.

A complaint record

Every casino receives complaints. What matters is how they end. AskGamblers runs a complaint service. When it introduced the Certificate of Trust in 2015, it required at least 80 per cent of complaints to be solved. Casinomeister says it has processed more than 11,000 player complaints.

Search the casino’s name on those boards and read a few resolved cases. A pattern of withdrawals held back for vague reasons is a stronger warning than any number of complaints that were settled.

Responsible gambling tools

Crypto makes deposits fast, which is convenient and also a risk: a wallet on a phone can top up an account in seconds. Deposit limits, loss limits, time-outs and self-exclusion should be available from the account settings, without having to ask support. Look for limits that take effect at once and need a waiting period before they can be raised.

What awards and badges prove

As introduced in 2015, the Certificate of Trust required:

  • a CasinoRank score above 7.5
  • at least 80 per cent of complaints solved
  • at least six months of listing on AskGamblers
  • a complaints page on the casino’s own site
  • the certificate badge on the casino’s site

AskGamblers may have changed those criteria since.

What Winz’s awards measure

Winz’s confirmed results all come from the AskGamblers Awards.

In June 2025, Winz won Best Casino at the eighth AskGamblers Awards, a category decided by player votes among 10 finalists. The badge on the Winz site labels it Best Casino 2024. Winz was also a Best Casino finalist at the 2022 awards and a Best New Casino finalist in 2021, its first full year.

The Winz footer also shows the AskGamblers Certificate of Trust and Casinomeister’s accredited casino badge. Both can be withdrawn, so their current status is worth checking on the AskGamblers certified casinos page and Casinomeister’s accredited list.

What the Best Casino title measures is the opinion of the players who voted in 2025. The seven checks above measure what the casino does on the day a player signs up.

A five-minute checklist

  • Find the licence number in the footer and look it up on the regulator’s site.
  • Open the payments page and note withdrawal times, caps and any fees.
  • Match the network in your wallet to the one the cashier shows, and fill in any tag field.
  • Read the wagering requirement and maximum bet before taking a bonus.
  • Check whether provably fair games have a working verify tool.
  • Read three resolved complaints on a complaint board.
  • Set a deposit limit before the first deposit.
  • Send a small test transfer first.
