The Innovation Foundation for Democracy is looking for an Administrative and Financial Manager Accountant

Duration: Two years (with the possibility of renewal)

The Innovation Foundation for Democracy is a non-profit African organisation under South African law. Consisting of a network of regional hubs, the Foundation aims to reach out to the whole continent and engage in dialogue with the rest of the world. Role and responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director, the Accountant shall:
- Manage general accounting;
- Verify and record supporting accounting documents and perform bank reconciliations;
- Monitor the processing of customer and supplier invoices;
- Close the fiscal year: draw up the annual accounts and record the financial statements, keep up to date the compulsory accounting documents intended for auditing purposes;
- Monitor compliance with the applicable accounting plan and standards, update technical documentation (procedures and best accounting practices);
- Payroll management: draw up pay slips, submit social tax and social security returns to the relevant authorities;
- Draw up a monthly statement of the company’s accounts.
Language requirements:
Fluency (oral, written, reading) in English. Language proficiency in French would be an added bonus.
Required profile:
- Recognised qualification in accounting management;
- Proficiency in South African accounting and tax regulations, with proven experience in the field;
- Sound knowledge of national and international accounting standards;
- Experience in the management of associations would be an added value;
- Proficiency in office, accounting and tax processing software;
- Good command of English.

Full-time job, with important availability required.
The workplace is located at the Foundation’s Headquarters at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, 1 Jan Smuts Ave, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, Gauteng province, South Africa.
Occasional travel to the Foundation’s sites.
