Sales of new vehicles fall in April

South African new vehicle sales declined by 2,8% to 42 359 units in April compared with the same month last year, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers (Naamsa) said on Tuesday. Naamsa said sales fell further from a low base in April last year when sales were lower than normal.

SA November vehicle sales slide

South Africa’s new vehicle sales dropped by 13,8% to 47 707 units in November compared with the same month last year, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers (Naamsa) said on Tuesday. Naamsa said trading conditions remained under severe pressure mainly due to higher interest rates and record high household debt levels.

SA August vehicle sales fall, rates weigh

South African new vehicle sales declined by 3% to 58 040 units year-on-year in August as higher interest rates weigh on the passenger car sector. This was the fifth consecutive month of lower sales, but the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers said the August figure was only slightly down on the record sales for the same month last year.
