General Motors and Ford reported far deeper-than-expected quarterly losses on Friday and said their rate of cash burn had accelerated
New vehicles sales are continuing to decline, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa) reported on Tuesday. New vehicle sales fell by 12% to 46 248 units in February compared with the same month last year, Naamsa said.

Vehicle maker Ford Motor Company of Southern African (Ford SA) plans to invest more than R1,5-billion to expand operations for its next-generation compact pickup truck and Puma diesel engine, it said on Wednesday. The investment will start in 2009 and be split between its assembly plant in Pretoria, and engine facility in Port Elizabeth.
