Du Preez setback for Boks

The Springboks may well have to do without the world’s number one scrumhalf, Fourie du Preez, in their first three Tests of the season, and the Blue Bulls could be without their top three scrumhalves when the Currie Cup kicks off on June 20. This follows confirmation that Springbok and Bulls scrumhalf Fourie du Preez has suffered a broken bone in his left hand.

Bulls reveal new faces in Super 14 squad

Three new signings at fullback and the return of Springboks Chiliboy Ralepelle and Pierre Spies after a layoff are the outstanding features of the Bulls’ Super 14 training squad that was announced on Wednesday. The Bulls have also named six locks in their search to fill the huge boots of this year’s captain, Victor Matfield.

Bulls add talented youngsters to line-up

South African Under-19 stars Francois Hougaard and Stephan Dippenaar have signed a three-year contract with the Blue Bulls. Hougaard is a strong scrumhalf who attended Paul Roos Gymnasium and, according to his agent, ”a very aggressive number nine with an excellent pass and outstanding defensive capabilities”.
