Adam Gilchrist became the first player to smash a 100 sixes in Test cricket in a brutal display of power hitting that put Australia in control of the second Test against Sri Lanka on Saturday. Gilchrist clubbed three massive sixes, including two in succession off Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, to blaze his way to an unbeaten 67.

Flintoff guides England to victory

All-rounder Andrew Flintoff lifted a jittery England to a drought-breaking three-wicket win over New Zealand in the triangular series one-day international on Tuesday. Sri Lanka beat SA by 76 runs

Malinga Bandara took four wickets on Tuesday to bowl Sri Lanka to a 76-run win over South Africa and into a place opposite Australia in the tri-series limited-overs cricket finals. Bandara came into the match in the 20th over and turned the match in Sri Lanka’s favour when he claimed four wickets between the 27th and 35th overs.

‘Stiff and sore’ Warne to play in Adelaide

Test cricket’s leading wicket-taker Shane Warne was ”stiff and sore” after bowling a long stint in the second Test with a sore back but was likely to play in the third Test against the West Indies, skipper Ricky Ponting said on Monday. Warne was in doubt to play on the eve of the Test match, but satisfied Ponting he would be able to stand up to five days of the game.

Windies in trouble as Lara reaches milestone

Brian Lara reached another milestone in Test cricket on Saturday but the rest of the news for the West Indies wasn’t good in the second Test against Australia at Bellerive Oval. Lara became the second-highest test run-scorer but the Caribbean side was 82 for four in its second innings at stumps on the third day, still needing another 175 runs to make Australia bat again.
