Boucher ‘an icon of the game’

Cricket South Africa CEO Gerald Majola on Thursday congratulated Mark Boucher on reclaiming his world record as the most successful Test wicketkeeper of all time. Boucher contributed five dismissals to the Proteas’ victory in the first Test against Bangladesh, which finished in Dhaka on Monday, and has thus set a new mark of 418 dismissals.

Aussies thrash India in first Test

Australia thrashed India by 337 runs to win the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series on the fourth day at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday. The Australians claimed their 15th consecutive Test victory and will look to equal their world record of 16 wins set from October 1999 to February 2001 in next week’s second Test.

Boucher honoured to break Healy’s record

South African wicketkeeper Mark Boucher on Wednesday said he was honoured to break Ian Healy’s Test record for dismissals behind the stumps with 396 victims. The 30-year-old stumped Pakistani batsman Umar Gul for 12 on the third day of the first Test against Pakistan at the National Stadium in Karachi to reach the milestone.

Australia display reserves of strength in India

Australia underlined the strength of their reserves in a rain-abandoned first one-dayer against India on Saturday, and stand-in skipper Adam Gilchrist said their performance boded well for the future. Reserve ‘keeper Brad Haddin hit 69 and then all rounder James Hopes lashed 37 in the final overs to help revive Australia’s innings after early trouble to total 307-7.
