Wits University’s vice-chancellor and deputy vice-chancellor respond to a recent M&G article on the transformation process at the institution.
The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) has lost another influential and experienced black intellectual to the University of Johannesburg.
Minister of Safety and Security Charles Nqakula said on Friday that those responsible for continuous xenophobic attacks in Gauteng townships will be ”severely dealt with”. He was responding to the violence in Alexandra and Diepsloot that erupted in the past week, in which three people were killed and dozens injured.

Indeed, ”varsities are not islands of privilege” as Wits University vice-chancellor Loyiso Nongxa tells us (October 12). However, the ”success stories” of both Wits and the professor himself have prominently proved the contrary.
