An ally of Iranian opposition leader Mirhossein Mousavi has been detained, reformist websites said.
Iran confirmed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as president and said a row over his re-election was over, leaving opponents who cried foul with few options.
Hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad resoundingly won Iran’s election, preliminary official results showed on Saturday.
Iranians began voting on Friday in a closely-fought election which pits hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad against a former prime minister.
If Iranian voters deny President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad re-election on Friday, it may be more a verdict on his economic performance.
Mirhossein Mousavi, seen as President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s main challenger in a June 12 election, advocates better ties with Iran’s Western foes.
