Proteas flay India’s bowlers in first Test

South Africa revelled in good batting conditions to pile up 304-4 on the opening day of the first cricket Test against India on Wednesday. Neil McKenzie (94), skipper Graeme Smith (73) and Hashim Amla (85 not out) laid the foundation for a big total as the Indian bowlers toiled in oppressive weather and an unresponsive wicket at the Chidambaram Stadium.

Smith, McKenzie give SA solid start

Graeme Smith and Neil McKenzie continued their brilliant form to hand South Africa an impressive start in the first cricket Test against India on Wednesday. The openers batted through the morning session of the first day to put on 109 by lunch at the Chidambaram stadium after Smith won the toss and took first strike on a placid wicket.

India snatch thrilling win over Australia

A Mahendra Singh Dhoni-inspired India stunned Australia with a thrilling eight-run win in the fourth one-dayer on Monday, throwing the series wide open. Chasing India’s challenging 291-4, Australia made 283-7 to allow India to pull one back in the seven-match series and reduce the margin to 2-1. The first game was abandoned due to rain.

India defeat rivals to snatch Twenty20 title

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s young India team snatched the inaugural Twenty20 World Championship title after defeating arch-rivals Pakistan by five runs in a rousing final on Monday. The Indians, restricted to 157-5, fought back to bowl out valiant Pakistan for 152 before a sell-out crowd of 32 000 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

India fall to four-wicket Vettori

Captain Daniel Vettori led from the front as New Zealand brushed aside India by 10 runs in a Super Eight match of the Twenty20 World Championship in Johannesburg on Sunday. The left-arm spinner claimed 4-20, took a catch and effected a run out as the Kiwis, bowled out for 190, hit back to restrict India to 180-9 in good batting conditions at the Wanderers.
