The SA Democratic Teachers’ Union (Sadtu) has confirmed it is rejecting the government’s wage offer, a union official said on Sunday.

A warrant of arrest has been issued for leaders of the SA Democratic Teachers’ Union (Sadtu) in Gauteng for holding a meeting during school hours.
About 60,7% of matrics passed the 2009 exams — just less than 2% down from 2008, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga said on Thursday.
The choice of Mugwena Maluleke as the new general secretary of Sadtu is widely interpreted as a move to redeem the union’s battered credibility.
The DA has called on government to break the ”stranglehold” it says Sadtu has on public school education.
Disruptions at Soweto schools ended on Wednesday after a pact was reached between provincial education minister Barbara Creecy and Sadtu.
KwaZulu-Natal teachers are taking leave to campaign for the African National Congress, the Congress of the People claimed on Monday.
SADTU in Gauteng Central is defying calls by education minister Naledi Pandor and ANC to refrain from holding political meetings during school hours.

The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (Sadtu) said on Sunday that the death of Don Pasquallie (41), the union’s deputy general-secretary, was a ”profound loss” to the organisation. Pasquallie died in a car accident in Napier, near Bredasdorp in the Western Cape, at about 6am on Sunday morning.

Parents, teachers and pupils staged a protest on Tuesday against the admission policy of the Kismet Combined Secondary school in Colridge near Vryburg in the North West. South African Democratic Teachers’ Union secretary Joe Molipa said the school had increased its fees by 37% in order to deny poor pupils enrolment.
