Cameroon, Egypt through to semifinals

Stephane Mbia scored twice to help Cameroon see off Tunisia 3-2 after extra time on Monday and set up an Africa Cup of Nations semifinal against hosts Ghana. In the other semifinal at Kumasi’s Baba Yara Stadium, Côte d’Ivoire face 2006 champions Egypt, who beat Angola 2-1 in the earlier quarterfinal on Monday.

Antelopes ready for another Cup leap

The continuous rise of Angola into an African force could reach a new level on Thursday in a top-of-the-table Africa Sup of Nations Group D showdown with leaders Tunisia. A draw will ensure the Palancas Negras of a place in the knockout phase of the biennial tournament for the first time.

Bafana thrashed by Tunisia

Veteran striker Francileudo dos Santos scored twice as Tunisia thrashed South Africa 3-1 on Sunday to go top of Group D in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations. The Carthage Eagles have collected four points from two matches and lead on goals scored from Angola, who hit back in the second half to shock Senegal 3-1 in the first half of a double-header in Tamale.
