Over 1 000 protesters from 43 countries converged on the Egyptian Museum in Cairo on Thursday, calling for Egypt to open the Rafah border post.

Protesters have rejected the Egypt’s offer to allow 100 of the 1 300 protesters and journalists in Cairo to enter Gaza for a freedom march.

One hundred international activists left Cairo on Wednesday for the Gaza Strip, after Egypt denied passage to another 1 200.

Egyptian authorities announced on Tuesday evening that they would only allow 100 people to enter Gaza for a freedom march.

More than 1 000 protesters — including sixteen South Africans — have converged on Cairo, and still hope to participate in the Gaza Freedom March.

Activists planning to enter Gaza from Egypt for a march appealed to President Hosni Mubarak on Saturday to allow them to enter the blockaded enclave.
