Guinea was under a state of emergency on Thursday amid growing international concern over deadly post-election violence.

Opposition leader Alpha Conde was early on Tuesday declared the winner in Guinea’s presidential election, taking 52,5% of votes.

Guinea’s military junta has imported millions of dollars worth of weapons in recent weeks — allegedly with the help of South African mercenaries.
